The first thing you do
when coming to Denmark is to locate a beer outlet which sells Probably The
Best
Beer In The World much cheaper than in the highly overtaxed country of Sweden.
The load will make the
perfect riding height for your car.
Here I have the Eibach springs on all four corners.
Vandel is a NATO airfield
which lets the Danish organizers come in and play a couple of weekends every
year. Nova and I were confused over a good running nitrous-fed engine but
now a slipping 4L60E trans!
Actually this trans was sent to an "expert" in the north of Sweden
to get a race preparation before the
season began. So I didn't believe what happened when it slipped on high RPM
on every gear in every
run! That didn't even happen when transmission was stock!? Could it be too
much power...? Hm...
No
race without Impala CookieSS made by Sonia Rooth, my dear mother-in-law. And
you really need
these sweet ones to the coffee when wondering why the heck you're running
13.2's with a much
better prepared Impala SS than last year when it ran 12.9's....
Axel has advises for mechanic
Anders "Nova" Forsberg.
Anders Arvidsson to the left also tries to learn
something. Arvidsson is an endurance racer in his own built Volvo 242 and
also my garage landlord.
"Hey Nova, get me
my tractor please!"
One of the days had a rain
that we thought would last all day so we hurried in to the closest town to
have
a real danish "kro" treat with beer, beef, fried potatoes and a
"lille en" (little one) schnapps. Axel was happy
with a new toy as usual. Suddenly we got a call - "rain is gone, qualifying
continues soon!"
We got happy in an unhappy way.
15" wheels look too
small on such a big car that comes with 17". But what can you do? You
need racing tires...
Anyway, you also need consistency in Bracket racing which you don't have with
a slipping transmission.
Died in first round, but managed to get some cup-points. Also managed to drive
home with all the beers.
(More
of this at the tech pages when they're done!)
For next race in
Mantorp I will buy and install an MSD Window switch for the nitrous.
That will give me an opportunity to shut off the nitrous on high RPM during
the
shiftings and to let it on again at the beginning of the next gear. Maybe
that's it?
That "expert" in the northern of Sweden also thought it was a bright
idea...
(Yes, you'll get to know more about him later on)
