First race of the season
was in Feringe, Småland. A couple of hours drive from Gothenburg. For
this
season we had decided to race the 6 races of the Nordic Pro Street Cup in
the Bracket-class called
"Real Street". No changes on stock motor since last year, but better
chassie components.

He was there. I felt the
dark power. The engine too...

Bad NGK TR6. Detonated
to stardom by Mr Nitrous. When it happens - it happens quickly! This one is
brushed but you get the idea. So then you start to wonder what the exhaust
valves look like? But at the
race you first start to wonder if you still can go out and race if you fix
things? Last thing you worry
about is if you can drive home at all?! We changed plugs and decided to mount
the new-in-the-box
MSD ignition so we could adjust down the ignition timing to prevent this to
happen again...
And remember...it never is the nitrous' fault when detonating - it's yours!

Joining The Blackout Team
this year was Anders "Nova" Forsberg who did a lot of streetracing
and
dragracing back in the 80's. Just like me. Now he suddenly got his hands full
with the plug change
while I was doing the very very important filming of the plugs! Together we
changed to 8 new plugs
in 1 hour 27 minutes on cold motor as the quickest! Edelbrock 1 5/8"
headers.

That's how I see it anyway.
We stayed at my friend Tore's house in Örkelljunga, only a couple of...HOURS...away.
He had just begun to renovate it and I guess it was needed even more so when
we left. Thanks Tore, see you!
.

During the rain we could
get into a hangar to work. We mounted the new MSD Digital 6
ignition box. It gives us the opportunity to retard the timing to a pre-adjusted
level
(-6 degrees) in an instant via the pulse from the +12 hot line from the NOS
microswitch.
Just wish I had done it before the race...but it worked without it last year...

SycloneRobban opened his
season with an 11.07 @ 121 mph (197 kmh). We could all see that he
had power for 10's in the V6 Turbo but the 4WD GMC Pickup just danced between
the lines.

The race was ended by rain
on sunday. I was relieved because my engine wasn't happy at all!
No good performance from us this weekend, of course. 13's. Still I got some
important points
for qualifying and lasting 1st round. Well, it's a cup! Before driving home
I now have a new
thing to do - adjustment of the four brand new HAL shocks! It takes four minutes
and then
it's a Road Racer again! HAL 12-point adjustable shocks are one of my best
buys ever!

And I was lucky that I could drive it again even with a couple of burned valves!
And I had
promised Petra "Trollet" Larsson the ride home in the Big Bad Black
Impala SS!
Someday I also hope I can succeed in stop smoking because it looks stupid
doesn't it!?

Out with the LT1 iron heads.
Valve seat renovation by Julle. New exhaust valves. We also took the
opportunity to change from stock 1.5 rockers to Crane 1.6 roller rockers.
Nova shows the best way
to work underhood in an Impala SS. The rigid swaybar makes a perfect step.
