Since I haven't had the time to get the Impala through the yearly inspection we couldn't drive it to Norway. Borrowing a
Volvo FL6 was a big adventure for all of us. For a 6 year old like Axel a truck is the ultimate thing, for an hour on the road
at least. He wanted to be the controller of the remote for the back port. The early start at 04.30 am indicated that it
indeed was a Friday 13th. Batteries in the FL6 were out and I had to call assistance. And that was only the beginning...

Jörgen Karlsson is The Guru of computer-assisted fuel injection systems in Gothenburg that has given many
other local users a lesson and a kick in the right direction! He's not only an expert on my F.A.S.T. system
but also on most other systems because he is basic! I was very glad when he could join for the test day in
Gardermoen! He taught me a trick or two about tuning and I wish I had listened to him earlier on...

Oops it's slippery! Even if Jörgen took off a lot of ignition to be safe with the new crank trigger and all,
there was enough power for burnouts but only power for low 12's. I felt it already in the launch.

Still the motor wanted even more fuel than before (when it's always been smoking!). The FAST auto
correction put on maximum fuel for the whole run and Jörgen followed it up with an adjustment.
Could this be the difference between the effectiveness of an Optispark and a Crank Trigger? Hm...?

The first roaring pass of the 2 tonnes heavy too big black car from hell made the pit area crowded even
if it was only a low 12 second performance. The Norwegian youngsters were very polite, positive and
curious about the car. Some mentioned about the interior that "no lightweight sports seats in here"

In the second run the new PolyChain belt gave up just after start! The Nightmare was back?!?!? No, it was
my own fault. I had put on too much tension and I kind of knew it
. Who's to ask? Now I know.
These
polyrethane belts are not shredding teeth like rubbers - they snap! Agneta is my best comforting partner.

The belt tore everything in its way including the water injection lines and Festo fittings and the contact to the Meziere
electric water pump so the Impala was boiling and spitting hot water coming back to the pit! Lucky me that it didn't
touch the crank trigger or went out through the carbon fiber hood! Short run gave new interest among the people.

Suddenly there was a burnout competition in between the drag strip races. Not the same cars.

Blue Festo lines are OK. Something to match the MSD HVC II Coil and the manufacturer's plate on the blower.
Otherwise
I try to keep it Black or Red. Everything's fixed and the fuel-o-meter says we have enough soup. Time for the last test!

The sun is setting around 9 p.m. in the evening of Friday the 13th and No 1 spark plug wire falls off
from the plug in the burnout! Yes, it's on me. Time to go home.
When we finally reached home again we had been going for a solid 26 hours. ZZzz z Zz z zzz....z
Thanks Jörgen and Hawkeye!
