At last there's a Trans Brake for the 4L80E transmission

Rossler has made the trans brake and he recommends a stiffer oil tray with more (cooling) oil so here's
the B&M Deep Pan made of cast aluminium. Rossler also recommends a Safety Blanket like the
RCI blanket I have for cars which produce more than 600 HP. And we are almost twice that...

The B&M Deep cast aluminium pan is 2" higher than original steel pan. I really hope that I won't drag
that pan into some Villa Fascist's street bumps...

It will be exciting to see what happens when using this unit! Revving 5700 RPM and then an instant
release of the car with letting off a switch...

Rossler Trans Inc. - Carl Rossler is a hot name in automatic's drag racing. State-of-the-art handicraft,
piece by piece. Imagine the happiness when I got to know that they actually had built a trans brake
for the 4L80E! ChrisNorway brought the good news, thanks again Chris! And thanks Carl of course!

The Impala King, Mr Al "Jonas" Holt, hasn't been into a 4L80E with his hands before, but into many
other transmission models, and mounted Trans Brake too. I'm glad he's helping out on this one because
I have never dealt with an automatic before, but many manual gear boxes (too many).
We were both impressed by the growing Trans Tower during the disassembly.
Who did invent the automatic anyway?

Looks like something from "2001 A Space Odyssey"...

Looks like a crack! Feels like a crack! But it's burnt dirt (oil level). You can't remove it with your nail,
you need Scotch Brite. Kenneth Ståhl found out that this was not a crack when he took the drum to
the Magnaflux at Custom Racing.

The Kevlar band for engine braking looks brand new at least! =)

Mikael Thor at LBM Autoparts has a giant stock of parts for all kinds of automatics including the 4L80E.
And his business is in Landvetter just outside of Gothenburg - lucky me! But I hadn't heard of him
before, in all these years, before Jonas told me! Mikael had both Alto friction plates and Kolene steel
plates for my clutches. And more stuff. Thanks Mikael!
Then I drove all my transmission parts up to Kenneth Ståhl at Custom Racing 3 hours away in Örebro
who will build my trans with trans brake and all. Hopefully we'll get his story here with pictures when
he's done!
(Jonas who began with this project, as you noted, lost his interest because he needed to finish his
own '64 Impala).

4L80E Ignatius is fat! Once built by TCI but now built even stronger by Kenneth Ståhl at Custom Racing
in Örebro. The Rossler Trans Brake is ready to go. Thanks Kenneth!
And thanks also to the logistic team that engaged in getting this elephant to Gothenburg besides
Kenneth: David III Johansson, Mikael Westerberg and finally the Lindahl-twins who happened to pass
Örebro with their Pro Mod Team bus (after the FIA-race in Finland) and picked it up and drove home
to Vargön where I got it today! Great solution!

It sure looks like there's more transmission under the tunnel than in the tunnel... Cables went free
from blanket, the shifter arm as well even if I can see a risk that the arm will hassle overtime?
I may need to construct a small chrome moly bar mounted to trans, going between arm and blanket.

Ignatius might be the lowest point underneath now? Or is the crossmember in the rear?

I made the bracket for the Trans brake switch from a 4 mm aluminium piece and two pipe straps.
Yes, it's painted in my special SS interior grey that I used for the roll cage.
The switch is a Hurst Line lock 10 A.

Much more soon...
